Maybe I shouldn't be writing this, and maybe I should. Of course, I have homework to do . . .
Writing here helps me to express certain things every now and again.
Today I had an incident in my English class.
A few days ago--or perhaps it was just yesterday--we were assigned to write a 2 page essay on the topic, "I was _____, now I'm ____." This subject I found particularly difficult, especially because we'd already written an essay recently which had the only subject I could have used for this. And I refused to paraphrase my first essay (which my teacher today suggested).
While talking over the subject of the essay again today I asked my teacher if she could "be my therapist" for a moment to assist me in coming up with a topic, as I still had none. She very sweetly--as she often is--came to help. Her, myself, and my friend talked to try and come up with something. She asked me if my educational attitude had changed; I answered no. Had any of my beliefs or fears changed? Nope. I all honesty, I haven't drastically changed since I was a kid. I'd always been very willful and hard-headed. So, having come up with nothing, she handed a personality-quiz book to myself and my friend. While she directed the class, my friend and I scoured the book. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything. I admit, it was a good book, but I couldn't find anything about myself in it. And the whole while, my friend was helping by asking me questions.
Sincerely, it frustrated me that I could not think of anything to write about, other than I topic I'd already used. We told her that I couldn't find anything. She responded by sighing, leaning over the desks in front of us, and saying to my friend, "She's not finding anything because she doesn't want to." By that alone I was blown away. And even moreso by the fact that right in front of me she'd said it to my friend right beside me as if I were not even there. I didn't even have a response.
I take it she was frustrated, and I fully understand that. However, it's bothered me endlessly all day that she openly spat out such a rude comment right in front of my face as if I were not there. I've been advised to tell her just that tomorrow, but in all honesty I have no interest in even speaking to her about it. I very much appreciate my teachers and look to them for guidance when I'm at a loss of what to do. And at the very least when I'm bothered by someone's actions I wait until I'm far away from said person before I express it.
Maybe I sounded arrogant because I was honestly stating my lack of change in life when every other soul in the class could quickly find something to write about. I could have made something up, but what good of an essay would that have made? I have to write passionately about something, otherwise it's not worth writing. If she did take it as arrogance, I hold sincere apologies. That was not at all my intention. I only wished to be honest with her.
Anyway, I wound up finally taking an idea I thought would be useless and found use in it after my mother helped me hone it. Knowledge. The one thing we can only gain as we grow is knowledge, and that has helped me to understand so much in this world I love.
Well, back to my work~

A Good Lesson

A teacher in New York was teaching her class about bullying and gave them the following exercise to perform. She had the children take out a piece of paper and told them to crumple it up, stomp on it and really mess it up, not to rip it. Then she had them unfold the paper, smooth it out and look at how scarred and dirty it was. She then told them to tell it they're sorry. Now, even though they said they were sorry and tried to fix the paper, she pointed out all the scars they left behind. And that those scars will never go away no matter how hard they tried to fix it. That is what happens when a child bullies another child, they may say they're sorry, but the scars are there forever. The looks on the faces of the children in the classroom told her the message hit home. Copy and paste this if you are against bullying.

Wow. Sssssta.sh. Really?
This feature is--for lack of a better word--annoying. It was a relief to find I could still upload my journal entries normally still, though I now have to go to my page, go to the 'Journal' tab, and click 'New Journal Entry.' Whenever I click 'Write a Journal Entry' under the 'Submit' tab, it takes me to that trash-Sta.sh page. *Excuse my pun*
In addition, this thing is taking the form of a deviation. I am not approving of this at all.
This is really terribly bothersome, and not what I was hoping to find today when logging on to DeviantArt.
I've seen many praising this new forced feature, but I have also seen fellow protests.
I'd like to hear what more people think.
Though honestly, I'd love to hear protests. *guilty as charged*
